About Us

Sound Company, The Children’s Performing Choir of Oak Ridge, was founded in July 2003 by Sue Stone Byrne, Sally Avery and Francine Britto. The gold award winning choir is a non-proﬁt performing arts ensemble of children from Oak Ridge and the surrounding areas.

Sound Company and its freshmen choir, Sound Company Too!, are comprised of students in grades 1 through 12. Their work focuses on basic choral skills, healthy vocal technique and challenging choreography.

During the 2008/2009 season, Sound Company has 39 Seniors, 42 Juniors and 26 Toos. These 107 student members represent twenty-nine different schools: Oak Ridge Schools (Glenwood, Linden, Willowbrook, and Woodland Elementary, Jefferson and Robertsville Middle, St. Marys Catholic School and Oak Ridge High School), Anderson County High School, Cedar Bluff Elementary, Central Elementary in Wartburg, Fountain City Elementary, Grand Oakes Elementary, Hardin Valley Elementary, Karns Elementary, Norwood Elementary, Norris Elementary, Philadelphia Elementary, Clinton Middle School, Bearden High School, Cedar Bluff High School, Farragut High School, Karns High School, William Blount High School in Maryville, Christian Acadamy of Knoxville, Concord Christian School, Episcopal School of Knoxville, Grace Christian Academy, Knoxville Catholic High School, and Webb School of Knoxville. In addition, some of our members are home schooled.

Tickets for Brundibar

Sound Company families will be able to purchase discount tickets ahead of time.
The regular prices for tickets are: Adult ticket: $25, Students older than 18 with ID, $8, Students 18 and younger, free.
... Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
The discounted ticket for adults are $18. Discounted tickets will be available for purchase during the Saturday rehearsals and next Monday's rehearsal. Please find a Sound Company Board member during the rehearsal to purchase the tickets. (Cash or check accepted)

Brundibar Rehearsal Schedule:

Monday, January 30, 2012 - 4-6 (Regular Sound Company Rehearsal at Grove Theater, plus a little added. Knox News will be there for pictures.)

Saturday, February 4, 2012 - 9-2 (Extra staging of opera at ORHS (this is a change) - pizza lunch will be provided).

Monday, February 6, 2012
4-5:30 (Regular Sound Company Rehearsal at Grove Theater)
5:30 - 7:00 (Break - eat dinner, homework, etc. Students cannot stay at Grove Theater during this time unless their parent is with them.)
7:15 - 8:30 (Rehearsal at High School with OR Symphony Orchestra)
